What does this mean for me?

ACH payments may now be posted the same day they are processed.

Previously you could originate a transaction on Monday and know that the transaction would not clear your account until Tuesday. With this regulatory change, this "float" day may be eliminated.

If the funds are not available in your account when an ACH transaction posts, a Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) fee or a Courtesy Pay fee will be charged.

If your account is not covered by Courtesy Pay, the ACH item may also be returned to the merchant which may incur additional fees.

What do I need to do?

In light of this regulation, please be sure that adequate funds are available in your account before scheduling an ACH transaction.

Please do not count on a direct deposit to post, or a check hold to be released, before an authorized ACH payment is posted.
